Nourishing Chia Gel

A simple daily ritual to support digestion, hormones, and hydration

This chia gel is one of those quiet foundational habits that doesn’t feel dramatic, but makes a meaningful difference when done consistently.

It’s gentle, fibre-rich, and easy to batch ahead, making it a simple way to support gut health, blood sugar balance, and hormone clearance without adding complexity to your day. The lemon neutralizes the taste of chia, so it becomes very versatile.

I keep a jar of this in the fridge and add it to yogurt bowls, oats, smoothies, or even water as part of my daily routine.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup chia seeds

  • 1 cup filtered water

  • Fresh lemon juice (about 1 tablespoon)

Method

  1. Add the chia seeds and water to a glass jar.

  2. Stir/shake well to prevent clumping.

  3. Add fresh lemon juice.

  4. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir/shake again.

  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until a gel forms.

The texture should be thick, smooth, and spoonable.

How to Use

  • Add 1–2 tablespoons to yogurt bowls or oats

  • Blend into smoothies for a gentle fibre boost

  • Stir into water or herbal tea

  • Use daily as part of a fibre-forward routine

Each tablespoon of chia gel provides about 2–3 grams of fibre, making it an easy way to build toward your daily fibre target without overwhelming digestion.

Why Fibre Matters

Fibre plays a key role in hormone balance, digestion, and metabolic health, and most people simply aren’t getting enough.

  • It helps bind and eliminate excess estrogen, supporting hormone clearance

  • It slows glucose absorption, supporting blood sugar balance and reducing cravings

  • It feeds beneficial gut bacteria, supporting digestion and immune health

  • It promotes satiety, helping you feel satisfied without overeating

  • It supports regularity, which is essential for detoxification

Small daily habits like chia gel make it easier to reach the 30–35+ grams of fibre per day most people need, without overwhelming the digestive system.

Storage

  • Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator

  • Best used within 4–5 days

  • Stir before each use

A Gentle Reminder

This isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about choosing simple, repeatable habits that support your body over time.

Chia gel is one of those habits.
